last night, i decided to make sugar cookies. i don't know why i thought that this was a good idea. i wasn't feeling well at all, and making sugar cookies takes like 27 hours. on top of that, we actually made a real dinner. sean didn't feel that the sugar cookies were healthy enough or something but whatever...
so as i was cleaning up the mess, i said to sean , "aren't you proud of me? i have been cooking a lot lately, and cleaning up after myself."
what does he do?
gives me 2 thumbs up. then carries on watching tv. 2 thumbs up? who do you think you are? Siskel and Ebert? although i think one of those guys died. so no offense to anyone if they feel that this comment is "too soon".
i sat and thought about it. has it come down to this? me getting compliments from sean by complimenting myself and having him give me a thumbs up? i mean, i know we have been married for almost 11 months now..but aren't we still supposed to be in the honeymoon phase or something?
i brought this up to him, and he just laughed and gave me a high-five. um... k.
so then, we get into bed. we have been obsessed with HGTV lately. and by obsessed i mean that we spend our friday nights at home watching it for 6 hours straight because we are cool like that.
so we are watching house hunters and we are both in a somewhat " immature, i want to see if i can annoy you more than you can annoy me" kind of mood.
i started nudging sean in the shoulder. very softly. like every 20 seconds. then he proceeds to poke his finger on my nose. this continued on until i decided to pull out the big guns. my cold feet. i love rubbing them all over his legs and pissing him off. he squeals like a little school girl. and he decides to get back at me by fake punching my ovaries (that are in pain right now by the way, because i know you all were dying to hear that) and making a squishy sounding noise. like he felt like he was making my womanly time of the month more severe or something.
it was the funniest thing i have ever heard. i was laughing so hard that it made them hurt more. i decided i would fake punch him somewhere (in the manly areas), with the same noise. he started to laugh and said , "Don't! my ovaries hurt too!"
i was like "wait a minute sean. do we need to talk?"
he then claimed he meant kidneys and was a baby and said that they really did hurt. gave me some mumbo jumbo about his colon and i didn't want to buy it. so i decided to start making crying puppy noises. for like 20 minutes.
he then says to me,
"chloe, i think you are right. we really should get a dog. so i can put you in the cage and play with the puppy."
ummm.. thanks sean. your compliments just have this way of... i don't know.. not being a compliment? at all.
i guess that is what happens after 11 months of marriage. you move on to high-fives, thumbs-ups, and wanting to put your wife in a dog cage...
and to think i let him buy a gun. and he sleeps with it under his side of the bed....bad idea? no?
here's to the next 11 months!
p.s. sean, i love you very much, and this past year has been the best of my life. i have learned a lot, grown a lot, and love you so much! aren't you proud of me? ....
......is that one thumbs up? or two?

ha ha love this post! Welcome to normal married life! HGTV is the bomb, yes the bomb. I love house hunters international. One day I will have a house and then a second home in some crazy cool country. Love you both and I can't believe it has almost been a YEAR!
I love the way you write! It's so funny! I love pulling the cold feet on just about anyone who I feel deserves it. They sure are a killer.
i find that the cold hands thing works best for me when it comes to annoying my sweetie. .. and then he back fires by tickling me. and then it moves on to the nudging .. and the wrestling .. and the tackling eachother in the hall. yes, i'm sure my neighbors love it.
happy 11 months. :)
hahahahahaha I was totally thinking, man, he should've given her a high five! AND THEN HE DID. I almost cried laughing.
Okay, this was like the funniest thing! And I can SO relate. I have been married for 2 years and I must say that the 1st year was the hardest. I mean - it wasn't terrible and we did have our honeymoon stage, but I had moments where I was like" umm - what?" So you are not alone! ha ha!
Oh and my hubby HATES it when I put my cold feet on him at night. I'm just trying to get warm and he thinks I'm trying to annoy him. Men!
This is super cute! high five Chloe :)
i love bed time behavior!
especially the goofy just waking up or about to go to bed silliness!

ahahahaha i love this post!
my husband and i have been married for 8...and it's amazing how things die down so much from first month married-i-can't-stop-holding-you-or-staring-at-you to eight months-i-love-you-but-i'm-watching-tv-and-you're-in-the-kitchen-thumbs-upness.
both are good though. love being married!
Josh and I have definitely moved out of the honeymoon phase, too! Actually, the honeymoon phase didn't last longer than a few months. It's because we both have teasing personalities, so it was only natural that once we were actually married we would stop being all gushy and romantic and start being our normal, annoying selves.
We high-five all the time, too :)
Your posts are so fun to read. I'm not always a fan of long post, but when I see you have one, I'm instantly happy! You are such a good writer! You really should write a book.A romantic comedy based loosely off of your life. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
The weird part? That exactly how Dustin and I act. I think it's normal. Or. Maybe we're all just abnormal.
And we totally watch HGTV way too much too. I love House Hunters and Bang for your Buck and My First Place. And Rental Property. I could go on...
Why am I just figuring out you and Sean are married? Shhhhh, I really knew I did. hehe. But anyway, this made me giggle, marriage LIFE always seems like a adventure just looking in on :) You two are perfect!
I'm pretty sure Cori would like to put me in a cage sometimes, too. And, while he keeps his guns in our closet, he has (for our entire marriage) slept with a knife between the mattresses. A big knife. Called "Sancho". He only considered stopping that once, when he fell off the bed and hit his back on the handle of the knife. (Ouch.)
And it would totally make my day, week, and month if you were to deliver sugar cookies to me ;)
This post totally made me laugh. My favorite part was the "sorry if some of you think it's 'too soon'" HA! I was totally laughing.
I can't believe you've been married almost a year! I think when I first started reading you guys had been married 6 months or something. Crazy. Pretty soon you'll be having a baby and getting mad at Sean for not being entertained by your indented, swollen feet!
Sooooo sweeet. I LOVE this post!
Am so happy that your 11 months were bliss..here's to hoping the same for a lot more! InshaAllah.
I laughed out loud when I read the part of Sean giving you two thumbs up... that is totally what Marc does... oh and this week Marc hid my Nutella yesterday yes hid the nutella... I did get a bit carried away with it but come on.. any who this picture of the two of you is gorgeous... Chloe you are so beautiful!!! And, guess what I have in my hair today, and my sister said I looked very Rachel McAdams... your sweet little pink barrette you made for me... ahh Merci Merci!! Any who... love this post it made me laugh and you two are ADORABLE!! Much love!
Chloe, I was staring at your mother the other night lying in bed, just to bug her, and it worked. She told me to stop it.
I guess after 27 some odd years of marriage you don't want your spouse staring at you anymore. I think she should be happy I still want to stare at her. Oh well, I guess that is what the TV is for.
Mom uses the cold feet, cold hands thing. She thinks it is cute.
two thumbs up is better than one up and one down because that just means ok.
gorgeous. you and the dress. and uh, the guy too (i guess).
Too funny. I like it. you two are so cute and aww i love that pic!
Great post!
You two are very cute!
you're cute.
i love that sean made ovary squishing noises. what the heck does that even sound like anyway????
two thumbs up is a pretty awesome compliment i think :). but, ok....come on sean...you could step it up...just a LITTLE. right? i've got faith. talk about chloe's beautiful eyes. the complimentary possibilities are endless.
i love you lovely girl!
hope you have a happy friday!
I think this post definitely gets two thumbs up! hahaha... seriously.... 11 months of bliss right?
Love this post :) And you two are awesome...
You so crack me up! I think maybe we should put Sean in a dog cage while you cuddle with the puppy:) Sean is so going to hear it from Troy tomorrow- 6 hours of HGTV? Yep!
I'm so sorry your ovaries hurt... that's the worst huh? It's even better when your husband is like... "What's wrong with you? Is it really that bad?" It's great. Your puppy picture is so cute! Tell Sean it's either a puppy or a baby... that's how I got my puppy. :) Btw, where's my sugar cookies? Haha just kidding. I can't believe you made them not feeling good cuz they really do take FOREVER!! I'm sure they were delicious.
I give this, 10 thumbs up! :) 6 hours of HGTV isn't so bad, I do the same! Love that wedding photo! haha
I give it 2 thumbs up and so does Brandon! So four. And, he said he'd like to borrow the dog cage.
ha ha "aren't you proud of me?" you are so funny. so obsessed with hgtv? totally have done this. oh and maybe you should just have a baby though. and that would make your ovaries hurt less every month. or so i hear. hope you guys are doing great!
cute. ;)
and yeah, a little more than two thumbs up would have been nice, even though it's a good compliment... just something more would have been nice!!! ;)
and even though i don't feel ok today this made me smile a lot. you have no idea!!! hope you're feeling better soon!
consider yourself hugged today. just feel like it. ;)
happy friday, girl! xoxo
This was too funny! Can I just say how much I love your wedding dress. I want a dress almost exactly like that!!!!
love your writing style!
that story is just too funny!!
love that wedding pic! you were such a gorgeous bride!
p.s. you have such a cute blog! new follower! ;) happy friday!
I rarely get compliments from my hubby! I mean the occasional, "you look nice" but I need to hear them ALLLL the time. Like constantly. I can't tell you how many times have I said, "look how awesome I am, didnt' I do well?" and wait for his response!! You'll learn how to get more out of him, I promise. :)
Oh my gosh Chloe! You are so funny! I was laughing so hard the whole time I read this :)
hahahahaha oh my goodness I just spit my drink out from laughing so hard! haha, I hope Spencer and I's marriage is as playful and fun as yours!!!
Don't you just love times like that? I think that marriage just turns into being super silly because you don't have to work to impress someone and your silly side comes out. And well, he agreed with you that you should get a dog so I think you should run with that and harass him about it because he said yes. I will eat your cookies since you're dinner was too healthy, sugar cookies are my fav. ;)
Um, pretty much sounds like my life. I haven't been married for much longer than you, but trust me.. It'll be even worse in a year or two..
hahah love it! we've only been 6 months...right there with you sister.
loves!
britt
what a stunning dress!
