proposal.

here is #3 in the wedding post challenge...


3. proposal: how it happened, how long were you engaged for? was it a total surprise?  pictures of that... etc..









we got engaged on tuesday november 25th, 2008. sean was so nervous to propose. he bought the ring on a monday night, asked my parents the same night if he could marry me...and then he got sick. sick from nervousness. he was puking all the next day. we went home to my parents for lunch and he couldn't even eat anything. i knew something was up. i knew he would be proposing soon.. and i knew it was why he was nervous. anyway, later that night i was at my house. he came over while i was making pot stickers. i was in my pajamas... not really planning on going anywhere the rest of the night. well sean loves ice cream. and is always craving a shake. so when i asked him if he was still hungry, he said "well, i have a hankering for a milkshake. should we go get one?" luckily i changed out of my sweats and threw on some jeans. i had a feeling he could possibly be taking me somewhere to propose. i knew it was coming. but... little did i know he was going to propose right there in my front yard. when he opened the door of his truck for me to get in? there was the ring laying on the seat with red roses. like i said, i knew it was coming, but i was completely surprised at it being right then.

sean tried to get down on one knee. he tried to talk to me.. he tried to say anything. but he couldn't. bless his heart... haha. it was so cute. he just kept saying "umm..chloe.. will... ummm will you..." finally i was like "yes!" then he tried to put the ring on my finger but he was shaking so bad he couldn't do it. so i just said "here, let me have it!" and i put it on. haha. so romantic i know! my sister was inside watching the whole thing and came out taking pictures. she was so afraid she was going to ruin the moment but it was perfect. i am glad sean did it the way that he did, because had it been some huge, elaborate date, i would have expected it. i was caught off guard and it was perfect. we never did end up getting a shake... sean returned to normal the next day.

he was really afraid that i was going to say no... can you believe that? i told him that i would have never let our relationship get that far and talked about marriage if i wasn't going to say yes. anyway, we were engaged for about 3 and a half months.. it was the best of times and the worst of times. being engaged was very hard. but totally worth it :)
