the dress.

# 7 of the wedding post challenge... (i am going to do # 6 with some other numbers for a combined post)

7. the dress: was it what you always imagined? did you have it made for you? white or ivory?

i loved my dress. it was from abella bridal. it was the "zolanda". it was ivory. it had lots of lace on it. i had it altered by a wonderful seamstress named shauna. she added eyelet vintage lace to the sleeves and collar/neck area and then she took the plain panel in the front (right where my cleavage would be) and added more lace to that area. i loved it because it made my dress a little bit different. she also did the bustle, and hemmed the bottom. i talk about my dress like i don't have it anymore. but i still do! in fact these pictures are from a second bridal shoot that my sister did for me. i wanted to wear my hair down and have no jewelry on. i wanted it to be a more natural shoot. i love how these turned out. mikki and her husband came along to and took some awesome pictures. i left that disc at work though so will have to post those ones later! anyway, was my dress what i imagined it to be? yes. but i guess i never really knew or had this vision of what i thought it would look like. i knew i wanted something timeless, and classic. something that maybe a daughter of my own wouldn't mind wearing someday. nothing to crazy or over the top. i guess we will find that out in 20 years or so! you never know then what we will think of styles now. regardless? i love my dress. the only thing that i would have done differently would be to have had the seamstress make the dress. she said she could have made the exact same dress for a fraction of the cost... dang. oh well! coulda, woulda, shoulda! ;)

you look seriously gorgeous in these photos. and yes! let's be real life friends! i feel like the transition from internet to real life friendships start out by grabbing coffee... except, in this case, neither of us drink coffee.

Such a gorgeous dress! That's definitely something your future daughter could wear :) I really wanted to wear my mom's wedding dress at my wedding, but it was white, and white looks awful on me. So I hunted around halfheartedly for a while, trying to find a dress, and then one day my grandma called me over and presented me with my great-grandmother's cream-colored wedding dress. It was pretty much the most perfect wedding dress ever! I loved wearing it.
