and again.

once again, another house/decor post. i sure have kept myself busy lately trying to make things that i find at the local thrift store D.I. look better. every item that i buy there is between .75 cents and $3. i have a feeling that sean might not appreciate me coming home with all this "junk" but when i walk out of there only spending $8 versus target where i would be spending over $100? well i guess he can't really complain. although i did get the placemats at target. if i could marry target and make little target babies i would. but since i can't right now i will just marry D.I.

i have started to stop at D.I. several days a week. then i usually hit up the antique mall on saturdays. i find new things every single time that i go. even if it has only been one day. i love it. seriously, it is a cheap, fun hobby and for someone like me who usually just sits on the couch when i get home from work? it has been good. what i really need to focus on though is some furniture that i can re-finish (because i actually need that kind of stuff) instead of all these little decorative things. oh well. it has become an addiction and i probably should stop, but there are worse addictions right? i even find myself checking out craigslist and KSL everyday to try and find cheap or free furniture that people don't want. so if you know of anything.... ha just kidding. sorta. anyway, here is what i have been up to lately.

those are the before and afters and then below i just took some pictures of how i used it all and what our dining area is looking like right now. i liked it before but i changed it up a little so i could add this "new" stuff...

i hung up some post cards that my mom gave me for my birthday last year. sean doesn't want to add any curtains because he thinks that it will block out all the light.. which if you really want to know my opinion about that you can email me and i will let you know. but that is another story for another day. so anyway we met in the middle with these postcards that i just clipped on a piece of hemp. then i hung up some plates that i already had.

got all those babies at D.I. for $1 each. i painted the A for "Ashby". anyway, here it is all said and done! now i just need to find a lamp shade for that lamp! oh and that lamp was only $3 and it works! wahoo!

anyway, i hope that everyone is having a lovely week! thanks for stopping by our blog and always leaving such sweet comments. i don't say that enough, but i love you all. i am sorry that i have been a terrible commenter for like the past year! i need to be better at that.

i love that you are crafty and take the time to really make your house a home. i also like your taste in color or style when repurposing.

i love the post cards! do you just go to the DI in provo? I am a huge fan of their frame selection... there are always like a hundred and then I bring some home and cover them in fabric or paint. love it.

You are amazing at thrifting! And making it all look really good! :) I have been doing a bit of the same, but every time I do I forget to take the before pictures. Also, I don't think you need a shade for the lamp - I LOVE it the way it is! Or, you should get a lamp and rip the fabric off it and just have the bare skeleton. I have quite a few of those lying around coz I think they're awesome :) I think Anthropologie sold them as "ghost lamps" for about $100. :D Keep posting this kind of stuff - I LOVE it! :)

Lol... why do I have this strange feeling that your opinion differs from Sean's a little as far as curtains go ;-)

You're doing an awesome job, seriously! Loving all the recreations you're making!

This is a weird question, but are you going to leave those picture frames empty, or have you just not filled them yet? Your house is turning into something that looks like it could be in a catalog! My mother in law is so good at reupholstering furniture. She has an old 1900s chair that she changes the fabric of every time she re-does her front room. Whenever I have a house I'm totally decorating in similar colors, they're so pretty and welcoming. good work chloe!
