what a weekend.

It has been an interesting week and an even more interesting weekend. This will probably be a kind of long post, in order for me to explain it all. But if you think about it, all of my posts are pretty ridiculously, annoyingly long, so this will probably be nothing out of the ordinary.

On Friday, Sean told me that he had a secret date planned for us. He wouldn't give me any information, except that I needed to dress warm. We got all bundled up, and then we picked up our friends Sara and Kimball. She and I had no idea that we were going with each other, or where we were going...

I was still cold and I had leggings on underneath my pants.

don't mind our messy room. it always looks like that.
I mean, it hardly does mom. ;)

Well, we were going to eat at this new place called Pizza Pie Cafe (which is incredible by the way. 6.99 for dinner buffet, salad, pizza, pasta, and dessert? yes, please) but when we got there, the wait was 25 minutes. We ended up going to eat at Magelby's fresh. It was still way good.

After that, we headed up the Provo Canyon. We still had no idea what was going on. We ended up in Midway, Utah. Sean wanted to take me ice skating. Outdoors. It was the sweetest thing in the whole world. It was the cutest skating rink that I have ever seen. The only downside?

It was closed.

Sean could have sworn that it said it was open online. He said that the last session started at 8 and ended at 10 pm. We got there at 8:45 so it didn't make sense. That is until we got home and I checked online and it said it didn't open until December 15th. Oops! Oh well. It was still so sweet of him and I didn't even care that it was closed. We drove up to Park City and tried to find another skating rink. The only one we could find was closed as well. So we took some pictures by it and then came back home to watch All I want for Christmas.

Well, we went to bed around 12:30 that night. It was kind of funny, because as I was lying in bed next to Sean as he was snoring, I was thinking about how content I was. It had been a crazy week, and we were both stressed, but I was finally just relieved that things were how they were, and not worse. Life is good, we are healthy and happy and I was grateful.

Eventually I fell asleep. I was woken up at 1:55 am by a phone call from my sister. I wasn't going to tell about this, and I will not give all the details, but I have had several people ask me about it since I mentioned something about it on facebook and twitter.

I hate when my phone rings. I especially hate it when it is 2 in the morning. Phones aren't supposed to ring at that time unless it is bad news, or a drunk friend. Well my sister told me that my 18 year old cousin was missing. She was supposed to go up to her best friends birthday party in Midway around 8pm. She had her bags packed to spend the night, she wrote down the directions, got all ready, and headed out. No one had seen her or heard from her since then. My sister had told me that she wasn't answering her phone, and that 2 missing person's reports had been filed already. Her family doesn't live in Utah. So it wasn't like they could all be here to go look for her. I don't know if you have ever been up the Provo Canyon, but it can be very dangerous at night and a lot of accidents happen there. I was scared to death hearing this news. My cousin is like a sister to me and this was so unlike her. Her sister that lives here and her fiance had driven up and down the canyon 3 times looking for her as soon as they found out she never showed up. They were checking the sides of the road with a flashlight.

Her phone was not turned off, so we kept calling it. I texted her sister and asked her if I could do anything. She told me that the police had GPS'ed her cell phone and found out that it was pinged not too far from our house in Provo. What? That is odd. She gave me the address and Sean and I headed over there to see a cop outside. Right next to her car. The whole thing was just creepy. Her purse, overnight bag, and directions to the party were sitting on the front seat. The cop got into her car and had me search her purse and bag for her phone. We couldn't find it anywhere. The cop had been going door to door, asking questions and investigating. He said that situations like this don't always turn out good. My cousin doesn't go to school here. She just comes here mostly to see family, so the whole thing was so crazy. We couldn't think of anyone that she would be hanging out with besides her friend who was having the birthday party up in Midway which is like 45 minutes away. We seriously felt like we were in an episode of CSI or something.

Anyway, to make a very long, emotional story short. She was found and is doing just fine. There is a lot more to the story, but I really don't feel like I can tell it on here. She was found at about 4 am. We got home a while later and couldn't go back to bed. We were so worked up and so scared. We were so glad she was okay and not dead in a ditch somewhere. I love her so much, and seriously don't know what I would have done had she not been okay. Sean and I decided that we can't ever have kids after this. Haha, seriously we were a mess. If I heard this story, and wasn't involved, I might think that it wasn't a big deal. But seriously, being in that situation was so much different than hearing about it. Being there with the cops as they went through every possible person she could know, running background checks, license plates, and addresses. It was very surreal. I am just glad that it turned out the way it did. It was an eye-opening experience for both of us. Now I know why I had curfews when I was younger. I am incredibly grateful for them and know that if we ever have kids, they will have curfews. It is impossible sleeping when you don't know where the people you love are. Oh, keep in mind? IT WAS FREEZING outside. We were out in the cold for 2 hours, scared to death. I am so grateful for a warm home and an amazing husband who supports me and was there for me through out all this.

Well we never really got any sleep that night. We were so worked up and so emotional that we couldn't sleep. We had to be at a Christmas party for his dad's ward at 9:30 am. Sean's grandpa is in a dixie land band called Mississippi Mud. They are amazing. They were going to play at our wedding reception but his grandpa had heart surgery shortly before that and couldn't play. So of course we couldn't miss this opportunity to hear him play again! It was amazing! They played Christmas music, while everyone ate breakfast, and the kids colored and made treasure bottles. It was really neat.

This is Kaden and Kayla with Santa. Don't they look thrilled?
Hehe, well they were. They both want lego's really bad.
I am not sure if they were let down when they got a sugar cookie from Santa.
Man, I would have been so happy with that.
I was tempted to go sit on his lap and tell him that I just wanted sugar cookies,
and a whole bunch of new clothes and a house.
I thought he might think I was a little weird though.

Later in the day I went to lunch with my mom, sister, grandma,
aunts, cousins, and friend Lee.
My mom was so proud of her new "toy", she just had to show us.
This just looks like ordinary lipgloss, but it is not ordinary.
There is a mirror on the side, and when you twist off the wand?
It lights up. So you can put your lipgloss on in the dark.
Haha, she was so excited because the light makes
your teeth look super white.
It was so funny.I love my mom.

Well, the other day I made homemade alfredo. I know, I know.
I am shocked as well. It was all made from scratch and was really good.
We had a lot left over, so tonight we decided to make some pizza with it.
It turned out awesome.

We also bought tons of Christmas movies this weekend.
We got:
How The Grinch Stole Christmas
Mickey's Christmas Carol (My fave)
A Christmas Story
All of the classic Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Clause is coming to Town stuff.
Pluto's Tree..
and tons of other stuff.
We have spent the night watching them and eating pizza.

It has been much needed. We both have been so stressed out for some reason!
It snowed here today, and our windows have ice on the inside. Haha. It is awesome.
I love it. Sean gets super cold, but I love just bundling up under a blanket and staying warm.

Anyway, sorry this post wasn't very exciting! It's been one of those weeks :)
But it has been good. We are truly blessed.
I don't know what I would do without Sean.

Well, I hope you all had a great weekend!
Yay for the Holidays!!

so... turns out the story about your cousin is super scary. not gonna lie, it kinda gave me some anxiety while i was reading it. i'm glad you found her and that she's okay. cuz that would have put a damper on the holiday cheer in your christmas movies. as well as life. Did you get elf? cuz I've had a craving to watch it recently. you should watch it for me. get my elf fix for me, chloe. :)

What a sweet idea Sean had for your date night! That is what happens anytime my hubby tries to have a secret date night- it all goes wrong. At least you were able to enjoy the lights!
I am glad it all turned out well for your cousin! We had a scare similar with my sister when she was in kindergarten. We always picked her up, but one day she decides she wants to ride a bus, not just any bus, but the one that goes way out beyond radio contact. Yeah, anyway, we found her and it was all ok but I can imagine what you were all feeling.
Take it easy this week!

Sorry to hear about your cousin!! Gosh that is scary. I'm really glad everything turned out okay though.
Sean is so cute to try and surprise you ice skating! Ha. Those kind of nights, where they don't work out as planned, are some of the funnest memories.
I'm very very impressed by your alfredo pizza! It seriously looks so good. I have never made that before... so maybe I should.
Your mom's lipgloss is sweet, what kind is it? She is so cute.
And those blow up christmas things are just too funny. Haha I am glad people do stuff like that cause it gives us all a good laugh!

Oh, Sean is so sweet to try and take you ice skating! Seriously, my heart just melted when I read that :) Josh told me that he wanted to take me ice skating on our second date, so that he could have an excuse to hold my hand, but it ended up not working out. Still, it was a sweet thought!

I'm so glad your cousin is okay. I was freaked out while reading your post (although nowhere near your level of freaked out, I'm sure), but I was relieved to hear she's okay.

You and Sean are so cute! Seriously, you're one of the cutest couples ever!

Comment #32? Is your blog serious right now? I have to admit I'm a little jealous. But, I'm not going to be jealous because it doesn't really matter, right? Whatever. It totally matters. I'll accept it and move on though.

Tell your mom to please let me know where to get that lip gloss. I need it.

The pizza looks amazing. I want it. I'm making spaghetti instead. But the alfredo recipe? Need that.

Love the picture of your stockings. Your apartment looks so cute. It makes me jealous. GOSH! Stop making me jealous all the time!

Thanks for updating :) Your blog always makes me happy.

Sorry I took forever commenting back. I suck. Forgive me?

I hope we don't have to bail this Friday :( I will feel like a flake. I told my sister I would tend her kids for her work party before I knew the date. Then we planned to hang out. Then she told me that the date is Friday. But her friend might be tending? Or something? I will let you know for sure. If we can't go though, you guys still can. Or we can try to reschedule. I'm seriously a flake. You should know this right now.

PS, I forgot to tell you in one of my last 93 comments that you look so cute all dressed in your warm gear for ice skating. I love it.
