its been a while..

i know i keep saying that it has been a while.. but man, it really has. i used to be a fairly consistent blogger. ever since we moved i rarely blog anymore. i am not really sure why. sean is back in school right now, and i continue to work my life away. don't get me wrong, it pays off. but it is exhausting. i am grateful for the job though and cannot say how much i love the company that i work for. earlier this week were were given 15 minute massages again during work. well my sister jokingly said to my boss, "that was great, but whens our spa day?" the next day they called all the women upstairs and gave us each a 4 and a half hour spa package to Remedez salon. and then said this "i know lots of you will say this is great, but you will never be able to use it because of work and such. no need to worry about that. we already scheduled all of them. during work. pick your time!" man.. we couldn't believe it. it includes a one hour massage, facial, pedicure, and manicure. i can't believe how generous they are. my sister said we should hint that we want ipads next. haha. but no really, they are amazing and we truly didn't expect a spa day! but i will definitely enjoy it..that's for sure.

last week sean and i got the chance to go to lake powell with sean's boss. we work for the same company but sean works in a different department. we had such a blast and i finally got over my fear of knee boarding after a scary experience when i was younger. sean got up on the wake board and did sooo good. we went with three other couple and stayed on a really nice houseboat thanks to troy and michele and first colony! thank you guys! i will have to get some pictures up soon!

the trip was going really well, but unfortunately ended for us pretty quick when we received some devastating news. we had just gotten back from playing out in the water when i heard sean's phone ringing. there is a receiver on the boat that allows some cell phone reception. i ran down to our room and noticed that he had a missed call from his mom, dad, and sister. all within a few minutes of each other. i just knew something was wrong. i took the phone up to sean and he called his voicemail. it was from his sister amanda. her brother in law matt was killed in Afghanistan that morning in a tragic helicopter crash. matt was her husband jason's older brother. it was such a blow. i never got to meet matt since he had been deployed for most of the time that we sean and i were married, but i was definitely affected by this news because i felt like i knew him from the way his family talked about him. they loved him so much. they were so proud of their hero. he was scheduled to come home in just a few weeks and had been gone since february. he got married in january and i was really hoping to get a chance to meet him once he got home from his tour. i am sad that i will never get to meet him, but i am thankful that he gave his life so that we could enjoy the freedoms that we so often take for granted. my heart is broken for the wagstaff/ashby family and his dear sweet wife.  i wish that i could take their pain away. you see these kinds of things happen in the movies and the news, but you never think that it will happen to someone that you know. my thoughts and prayers are with my sweet sister in law and her family. i want them to know how much i love them..and how much this tragedy has opened my eyes. how quickly life can change. it definitely makes me want to appreciate the things and opportunities that i have just a little bit more. god bless all the men and women out there serving our country.

anyway, i didn't mean to get so sad in this post. i haven't had much to say lately..and that's just how i am. i go in phases. i either have a whole lot to say and can't stop blogging.. or i have nothing to say. i am hoping with the colder weather that i will be inside more and have more time to blog. right now i am going to go back to watching the bears vs. packers football game. sean and i are in a fantasy football league with his cousins. let's just say i am in first place and i beat sean last week ;) not to brag or anything.. okay i'll brag about it. haha.

anyway, thanks for reading. i need to be a better blog friend, that is for sure. but i love and miss you all! hope you are all doing well!

that is so sad. you never think it will happen to someone you know/love, it's always 'someone else's family.'

my thoughts are with all of your family.

Umm, your job is amazing. Are you kidding? A spa day? Sheesh--I wish Cori's last employers could have been that awesome. But they're more concerned about themselves/making money. (Glad to be done with them!) You are one lucky lady!
I'm sorry for your loss. It just sucks, to hear such wonderful things about a person, and then not get a chance to meet them. How great that we have the gospel, and the knowledge of the plan of salvation, even so, it still hurts, and I'll pray for your family :)
Aside from that, I hope you're doing well, lovely lady! I miss you, Chloé. You are one of my favorite people who I've "met" through blogging! ♥

i'm so sorry to hear about your family's loss.
that's totally devastating. :(

What a sad story. It is amazing how these people give their lives for our country but that still sometimes isn't enough to heal the pain of such a tragedy.

I've missed you around here Chloe! Glad to hear that aside from that sad news that things sounds like they're going okay. And a spa package? I wish my job gave those out!

I am so sorry for you loss. That story really touched my heart. What a great man and what a loss for his family and our country.

You guys went to Powell? Fun! My family goes every year and it is funny that you said you had a bad experience on a wakeboard when you were younger... I almost drowned at Lake Powell when I was little because I was strapped in too tight on a knee board! I have never done it since. lol.

Glad to hear from you finally! I know how busy and crazy life gets.

Missed you!!!
My heart goes out to your sister-in-law. It's always such stories that bring us back to reality and let us appreciate and cherish what we have (whether or not we like it).

And well, I need to find a job as cool as yours...and as generous. A spa day! Just awesome!!!! :)

Have a fantastic day girl.
