a bit of big news.

i don't know why lately but when i post it never updates in blogger or google reader until way after the fact. so if you missed the post that i did earlier, it is right below this. it's about mosey getting snipped. and it is a quick post. poor guy! we will pick him up after work today. hopefully he is feeling okay.. the doctor called and said that mosey chewed through something in the cage that they put him in before surgery and that they didn't trust him. so they were going to have to put a cone of shame on him after his surgery so that he won't pull out his stitches. do you have any idea how much those cones cost? 17 bucks in case you were wondering. sean told them that we had a lamp shade that we could bring and put on his head but they seemed to think that wouldn't be as effective.

last week i was venting and whining about renting vs. buying a house. like i said we had been looking a few times, and then decided not to do anything. i guess i wanted to make some things clear. we can afford a house... if that is what we want. we just weren't sure if we were ready for the commitment and all the sacrifice. a couple weeks back sean was talking with a guy that he works with and sean was saying he didn't think we could afford a house. the guy who we love and trust completely said, " it's not that you can't, it's that you are not sure if you want to." and that is so true. i have not been able to stop thinking about those words. there are programs available right now to assist with down payments and rates are so low right now and we are not sure when will be a better time for us. is there ever a right time? buying a house is a big deal. we can afford it. barely. and we would have to sacrifice a lot of things. we won't be able to have the luxury to go to all the movies we want, and buy cursed expensive purses and go out to eat all the time.  are we ready for that yet?

well anyway, i vented that night about it, and decided i was okay with renting. it was nice hearing from you guys that i am not the only one who feels the way that i do. well the next day i was talking with a co-worker and she told me we just needed to go look at these new houses in springville. just at least look. so we did...and we fell in love with the first house we went into. and after much thought and prayer, we have decided to buy it. we got a really good deal, and some incentives because our work is the preferred lender of the builder. so that is our big news. we are moving to springville. the house appears to be bigger than it really is. it's not huge by any means. but when we walked in, it just felt right. (and i thought that the people on HGTV were just full of crap when they said that....)  anyway, we are scared to death. we are going to be incredibly poor. but we feel like this is the right thing for our family. it just sort of came up when we had stopped looking and we can't turn it down. we are going to figure this all out on our own and we have faith that it will all work out and be worth it several years down the road! mosey will have room to run around and be his cute little self once we get the backyard finished. we are really excited about it. i am going to have to work my tail off because once sean goes back to school in the fall, things will be even tighter. but we are ready for the challenge.

here is the thing. we know it will be hard. so hard. but a few months ago i remember someone saying to us that getting a dog was a huge responsibility, and it was going to be really hard. and sean said to them, "well that is okay. we can handle hard things." and he is right. we can't imagine our life without moses. we can't imagine what it would be like if we would have said "you are right. it will be hard. let's give him back. let's not do this"  we can handle hard things. i can't get those words out of my head either. i know we will be glad that we did this. we are in for an adventure.

here is a picture of it.. it is not great, and i didn't take it but it gives you an idea! i had to blow it up because it was so small and it made it look kind of blurry... oh well!

Photobucket

anyway, i felt kind of embarrassed about posting and venting and then suddenly this came up. so i hope this post doesn't upset anyone. i am not trying to brag or boast in anyway. sean and i are just choosing to put the money that we make somewhere else, and it will be this house. we are incredibly excited, and hope you all will come over for a house warming party once we move in!

i don't think you know how jealous i am. serious. and i know you didn't post this to brag or boast! please! if anyone says you did, they are gay. this looks way way cute! i am so happy for you guys. what an exciting thing! serious. i'm so jealous right now. it is a huge deal, but you guys will do it. i think this comes with anything. you have to learn to live a little bit differently, but after a few months it will seem like you've always had that payment or whatever. does that even make sense? i'm rambling. i know you will post about the rest of the process, but i am dying to hear about when everything happens! when you close, move in, etc. ps, we can help you move if you need help! and i'm not just saying that. michael is strong. i am pretty weak, but he would be helpful. and not like "oh yeah. we'll help you move!" and then not really want to. we really will help. i'm rambling. again. anyway, i'm excited to see the inside! aaand, you should probably invite me over so i can see it for real and not just pictures. kidding. :) kind of..

How exciting! I want a house so badly, but it is such a huge commitment. And there are so many things I want in my future home, like plenty of space for my little-but-growing family, in a decent area....but congratulations to you guys. :) super exciting!

That's awesome. Sometimes you just know when it's right, and it's weird that sometimes it just comes after you stop looking. It's definitely hard when you know that you can just barely afford it, but the timing is so good that you can't pass it up because that house is going to be so much more expensive in a few years when the economy turns around. Sigh, I wish buying a house was right for us, I want one too, but it's not...so we'll keep renting. ha, we were in springville on monday and we were talking to my dad because he does housing and financing and he was talking about houses out their and how their pretty reasonable. Well, congrats, hopefully everything goes well.

Congratulations! That is amazing news! I don't think you should feel embarrassed about sharing good news ! :)

If I could buy a house right now, I totally would. I'm glad that you are going for it! My boyfriend and I want to buy a house but we have decided to wait and see what we can afford in a year. It would be nice to know our money was going into something that is ours. So i'm hoping that someday soon I can have news this good!

This is great news! you have every right to boast. Hard working people are blessed twice as much I think, and this is a perfect example of that. Nothing to be ashamed of!

I wish i could come over :)

How very exciting & the house is so cute!!!

A perfect spot for Corona too ;-)

Jonas & I are going through the same thing...do we really want the responsibility of buying a house now? You are pushing me to do it, haha.

When do you guys move in! Can't wait to see more pics & see all the decor when you settle in :-)

Chlo!!!

i'm so excited for you guys! you are right...being a homeowner is a lot of work, but it's totally worth it. the benefits far outweigh the cost. craig and i were blessed to only have to live in an apartment for 6 months before we bought our house, but i'm glad we did at least for a little bit because it made me appreciate the house all that much more. not having noisy annoying neighbors boot knocking super loud and having room for marley to run is priceless :).

you guys are going to be just fine and God will provide. i'm so proud of you chlo...you guys are really real grown-ups now :)....next step babies! haha!

i would love to see it live and in person.... maybe one day. oh...and speaking of which.... are you guys still considering meandering to oregon in the fall?

love you chlo!

Yahoo!!! What great news! Owning a home is lots of work, but its also so much fun. A place to call your own!! Its so true, renting sucks and all that money is going towards something you don't even own!! Congrats, and good luck with all the closing stuff, when you sign those papers, you kinda feel like you are signing your life away, its a little intimidating, but you are just joining millions of other people in lots of debt! Haha, keep us updated!

good to see you took my advice. only kidding. so excited for you guys! it looks adorable. i wish we had a yard so tea could run and go out when ever she wanted. love the exterior. it looks perfect. congrats!!!!

i know this is kind of a newbee question but how did you get your header to go all the way across? is it your layout? i've tried sizing it differently but it will only stretch so far.

It's beautiful!!! Congratulations! I loved and hated being a homeowner. Now I enjoy being a landlord of the home we own and the ease of renting a cute little place on the lake that requires no lawn maintenance. :-)

It all works out just the way it should... whatever that "should" is for your life. :-)

Tara Long said...

Congrats! Having a home is so nice, although I haven't had a detached home yet, it has still been nice to own.
And as far as money goes...I know for us, we just always be sure to pay tithing and we always have enough even when a budget says we shouldn't. It's weird, but I am not complaining! :D

Chelsea said...

Yay! Congrats on finding your first home. From the picture, it looks like a very cute house! I can't wait for the day to get my own place that I can paint and decorate and just do pretty much whatever my little heart desires. I can't wait to see more pictures!

And I really, really loved Sean's comment, "We can handle hard things." Because it's true!

How awesome! Good for you guys! Congrats!

yay! I'm so happy for you! I agree, it is a big decision and it does mean that you are choosing a house over certain other luxuries like seeing movies and buying things...but in the end I think youll feel like its the ebst thing you have ever done! I know we do....even after all the flooding problems in the basement, we still dont regret buying the house. Its where we are growing our family and I know well always look back at this house with a fond love and remember a time when we were still learning about each other and exploring the world of being adults together. :)
Congratulations! You deserve it!

girl, this is amazing. i'm jealous. :) it's a good thing. and you deserve good things. and yes, i know i'm a bit late commenting on here but heck, i was away and the internet was not on my daily to-do list so yeah. ;) haha.
and girl, sometimes we all need to vent and whine and it's all good. i'm in this mood forever. though know that you are blessed and loved for who you are and what you do. no matter what it is. ok?! and yes, did i ever mention i am jealous of you life?! no? well, here you go. ;)
